A fabulous accessory is the best way to look "in"
for a new season. Shoes and bags are the primary
accessories. As winter is around the corner, you
may have loads of options with regard to shoes but a
pair of trendy high boots, which can go well with almost
any kind of dress, skirt or jeans, is worth opening your
wallet for. Rachel Bilson and Jessica Biel wear theirs
with skinny jeans while Rihanna matches her above-theknee
boots with fringes with her rock and punk uppers.
In terms of bags, small-sized clutches and oversized
bags are both popular this fall. Luxurious bejeweled
hues and metallic tones seem to be the two main
trends of this season. On the other hand, celebrities
mostly prefer bags in low-key and casual color tones
for daily use, such as Ashley Tisdale, Gisele Bundchen
and Keira Knightley. Agyness Deyn is different. She has
a small bag featuring long metallic 80s-style stud-andchains
details, which reflects her unique ... ... |

AUTHOR : James Frey AVAILABLE : Now
However much some people like it, plenty of others will moan
about "Bright Shiny Morning". Some of the book's detractors
will slag it off simply because it's written by James Frey, the
man who shocked the literary world – and Oprah – when it
was revealed that his harrowing memoir, "A Million Little Pieces",
wasn't entirely truthful. Others who don't object to the author
himself will instead object to the way he writes, with this, his epic
of Los Angeles, featuring prose so painfully hip it will have
some people reaching for pharmaceutical relief. Undeniably,
plenty of those who moan about "Bright Shiny Morning" will
have good reason to do so. And yet, almost inexplicably, there's
still something rather wonderful about it.
Whatever this wonderfulness might be, it's certainly not Frey's
style. His writing is unique only if you belong to a library that
stopped co ... ... |

As is the case for most expats in Guangzhou, you may find you have very limited choices
when it comes to fitted clothes. Quite a few foreigners have told me that they seldom
buy clothes here, and when they do, they go to the boutiques on Huale Lu only if it is
really necessary. I have been to the shops on Huale Lu, and they mainly sell a selection of largesized
T-shirts and jeans with no decoration or style whatsoever. Clothes are hung or piled up
helter-skelter. What is the worse is that they also look second-hand.
Well, you don't have to worry about it any more. A few select shops have opened in Guangzhou
in the past few years. They have impressive selections of stylish, brand-name clothing in the
sizes you need. These products are mostly either selected overseas or designed by local designers.
Selling genuine goods, those shops are a tribute to the acute tastes of their bosses, which
becomes apparent when talking to them, as their ideas concerning fa ... ... |

| The Landmark – 15 Queen's Road, Central ( Central MTR )
As its name implies The Landmark is an essential part of Central and houses the Landmark Mandarin Oriental Hotel as well as British department store Harvey Nichols. Although smaller than its counterparts in the UK , this Harvey Nicks still delivers with British designers such as Matthew Williamson and Anya Hindmarch. Just next door there's not one but two Paul Smith shops – one devoted entirely to his cheeky, stripy accessories and the other to his full line of men's and women's apparel including a good selection of shoes and luggage. Zany French designer Sonia Rykiel enamored with oversized rhinestone studded cherries, lips and knitwear also has an outpost here. Star Street
At the end of the nineteenth century Hong Kong 's first power station started operation in Wanchai on Electric Street and its surrounding streets were named after the classic Chinese verse of the three luminaries: sun, moon, and stars. Known for the iconic Hong Kong low-rise tenement blocks, Wanchai has started a swift march towards gentrification and the Star Street neighborhood has become a bohemian blend of galleries, cafés, studios and street markets. There is the only Agnès b. Librairie Galerie outside of Paris which offers local artists the opportunity to showcase their work as well as exhibiting international photography, installation, painting etc. At the bottom of the street on Queen's Road East is a spectacular showroom of simple yet sophisticated furniture and home accessories from local design firm OVO home. At the top of the street is MingCha, a modern teahouse whose concept is & ... ... |

| Whether you enjoy Soho or not, there is one undeniable fact: it's absolutely packed night after night. The first time I visited Soho was on the weekend, so it's not surprising to see the venue stuffed to the brim with partygoers that like to wash down a bottle(s) of Chivas with Chrysanthemum Honey (an interesting replacement to the cliched green tea). But my second visit on a Tuesday night proved that something was definitely working for this place. Was it music? Well, Soho played mainly remixed upbeat Hip Hop, and for live music, the resident singer started to perform at 10pm and seemed to resonate among the crowds with Chinese pop tunes. Was it the drinks then? The drink list is actually quite short and uninspiring with only a small selection of mix drinks. Budweiser, Heineken & Corona are offered at 350RMB/dozen while all cocktails are 50RMB (except for Lamborghinis). Finally, one fashionista (admittedly a regular) broke it down to me: it's the atmosphere. True, the c ... ... |

| It's an interesting scene: a man sits on one end of a gigantic bamboo and bounces up and down in a repetitive, tedious fashion, while at the other end sits some plain looking dough being pressed over and over again. When all this is finished, the perfected dough is cut into thin threads of noodles in order to make a superb treat. Welcome to Juk Sing Meen.
Elastic, great in consistency, and aromatic of duck eggs - such are the characteristics of Juk Sing Meen (or "Zhu Sheng Mian" in Mandarin). It's a traditional delicacy, and also, a dying art.
When it comes to a bowl of noodles, the Cantonese have very different tastes from the rest of the country. "Tsong Hao Dan A" (or Shuang Kou Dan Ya) is the main criteria, which is the Chinese equivalent to "Al Dante". Since noodles are usually served in soup and can thus lose their elasticity when soaked too long, texture is very important and a clean "mouth feel" is crucial. That's why Juk Sing Meen h ... ... |
