| Extinction postponed - Endangered turtles may still have a future |
| She's in her mid-80s; while he's believed to have just turned 100. Attempts to breed Suzhou's Yangtze Giant Turtles - the world's last remaining couple - have failed, conservationists have admitted. Officials at Suzhou Zoo report that despite the two successfully mating when they were introduced earlier this year, the eggs of 'China Girl' (as the press have dubbed her) have failed to hatch. | Double world-champion snooker player John Higgins took time out from his high-profile appearance at the Shanghai Masters to visit Suzhou. At downtown's Sheraton Hotel and Towers he was warmly welcomed by GM, and fellow Scot, Neil McDonald. Higgins, who is currently ranked world number one, had a surprise early exit in Shanghai, knocked out in the last 16 by Ryan Day.
